          Additionally to the skipper training, the SEA project (Sailing & Education at the Adriatic), will also enable a tour of the towns, small places and islands of Zadar and Šibenik archipelago during the programme.

 

           Zadar is a three thousand year-old town with the Maritime Faculty and the Maritime School Zadar. Visitors will be able to visit the Archaeological Museum with a rich collection of antiques, the Antique Glass Museum, the Romanesque church of St. Donat which dates from the 9th century and the Cathedral of St. Stošija. Renaissance palaces, as well as examples of modern and contemporary architecture featuring the world-renowned attractive Sea Organ and Greetings to the Sun can also be found. Sali is a place situated on the North Eastern coast of the island Dugi otok. Dating back thousands of years and with a rich fishing tradition it can first be found in the writings of the 10th century AD. Surrounded by olive groves and with a close proximity to National Park Kornati and the Nature Park Telaščica it has special value to the local community as a place with a developed excursion and nautical tourism.(www.dugiotok.hr/sali)

 

Telašćica Nature Park is one of the largest and safest natural ports in the Adriatic Sea area and it is a favourite destination for many sailors for this reason. Exceptionally steep cliffs or "ramps" rise from the South up to 200m vertically over the sea, into which they plunge 90m deep. The Lake Peace is a salt lake known for its unique healing mud and a water temperature that can raise above 30 degrees Celsius. (http://www.dugiotok.hr/atrakcije-telascica)

 

Kornati National Park is the jewel of the Croatian Adriatic and an unmissable destination for many sailors. It consists of a unique group of 89 islands, islets and rocks spread over 220 km2. (http://np-kornati.hr/hr/)

 

Skradin is a thousand years old town and was the capital of the Liburnia region at the time of ancient Rome. It is located at the entrance to the Krka National Park and has a developed nautical tourism. (http://www.skradin.hr)

 

The island of Prvić is a small island of only 2.41 km² in the Sibenik archipelago with two sites of extremely rich history and interest. Both sites are protected by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia. (https://hr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prvi%C4%87

 

Tribunj is a picturesque town located in the central part of the Šibenik region, famous for tourism, olive growing and viticulture. It is characterized by a center situated on a small peninsula with compact houses and with a great view on the developed coastline. (http://www.tz-tribunj.hr/hr)

 

           Betina is a unique place on the island of Murter. Apart from the natural harbour offering good shelter to visiting seafarers, Betina has a long history of traditional shipbuilding that you can learn more about by visiting the Museum of Wooden Naval Architecture. Duration: 7 days

Distance: 25 Nm per day, total 75 Nm

Route plan:

Day 1 - gathering of participants, lectures at school

Days 2 – 4 – lectures at school, sailing in the Zadar channel in the afternoon

Day 5 - taking the exam for boat leader/skipper (optional), sailing to Telaščica bay

Day 6 – sailing in Telaščica - Betina, getting familiar with wooden shipbuilding, visiting the Museum of Wooden Naval Architecture in Betina

Day 7 – Return

Route plan:

Day 1 - gathering of participants, getting familiar with the Maritime School

Day 2 - school: lectures, tour of Zadar

Day 3 - school: lectures

Day 4 – taking the exam for the skipper, gathering in the marina and sailing

Zadar- Sali 22 Nm

Day 5 - Sali - Telaščica - Piškera 22 Nm

Day 6 - Piškera - Zlarin 22 Nm

Day 7 - Zlarin - Skradin 20 Nm

Day 8 - Skradin, NP Krka - Prvić or Tribunj 16 Nm

Day 9 - Prvić or Tribunj, - Betina 20 Nm

Day 10 - Betina, Museum of Wooden Naval Architecture - Zadar 24 Nm
